Sigmund Freud was born on May 6, 1856 in Freiberg, Moravia (now Czech Republic). After his father's death, he moved to Vienna, Austria with his family. Freud studied at the University of Vienna, obtaining a medical degree in 1881. He completed an internship in internal medicine, and later obtained a position as an assistant to the anatomist Ernst Wilhelm von Brücke. Here Freud showed great promise as a researcher, investigating the properties of neurons. Soon he established himself as an independent researcher at the Institute of Physiology at the University of Vienna. Freud worked hard to help establish psychology as a science, building on prior work by German neurologist Hermann Helmholtz and French psychologist Gustav Fechner. However, his work was not accepted by the medical community at first. And he himself was not well-received initially by his peers, during which time he had many personal difficulties with his family. But after some time, Freud's work caught the attention of Sigmund Weininger and Carl Jung who joined him at 22–23 Immanuel Krankenhaus (the later renamed "Sigmund Weininger Krankenhaus"). During this time Freud worked on his philosophical ideas, which were eventually published as "The Interpretation of Dreams", also called "The Psychopathology of Everyday Life". Freud eventually left this hospital and established "The Vienna Psychoanalytic Society" with a group of other psychiatrists who shared his interest in Charcot's neurology. Freud then went on to publish a number of critical theories that greatly shaped the field of psychology, including a theory on the development of personality, the Oedipus complex, and the discovery of transference. Analysis:  The Interpretation of Dreams is Freud's best work which has been translated to 55 different languages. It involves studies on dreams as tools for self-expression as well as understanding. It further discusses dream analysis as an essential part of psychodynamic therapy and provides examples that support this claim. cfa1e77820
